There’s a Movement That’s Redefining the American Dream

Let’s talk about the movement that’s redefining the American Dream. It’s called “Home Matters” and major players like AARP, Home Depot Foundation and Wells Fargo are leading the charge. It’s about re-connecting to our homes so we once again feel we live in a safe, nurturing environment.

Like most people, you probably haven’t heard about Home Matters. That’s why I’m sharing it here.

This Big Event Shows Us The Future Trend In Housing

Last year I participated in a nation-wide contest (competing with large architectural firms) using Universal Design to remodel a Memphis Tennessee home. Although I didn’t win, my design work got noticed.

The goal – take a 2-bath, 3-bedroom house built 49 years ago and with a pretty tight budget, create a home designed for family members of all ages.

My submission came in 4th (pretty darned good considering the businesses I was up against!) and aspects of my design caught the judge’s attention. As a result, Home Matters published a “Toolkit” available to the public that features some of my work.

I wanted to share the following with you.

The first four pictures on this page shows my design and renderings for cabinets and countertops around the sink and other appliances. Note how the countertops are set at different heights.

This page  shows my hallway design and the calculations for how much space is needed for easy navigation.

More Than A Fad, It’s A Revolution

Our maturing population and the need to ‘create a sanctuary’ is changing the way architects, designers and builders think about home building. Yes, it may be slow, but it’s catching on…and it is my specialty.

Am I bragging?

You bet I am!

I consult with both professionals and homeowners to design living space to meet every resident’s needs and desires. I help people feel safe and create atmospheres people love to live in.

In fact, I’m running a special on consultations right now.

Not looking to make a change? Don’t let that stop you! There’s never been a better time to take a good look at your home. Talk to me now and get ahead of the crowd. This way when the time does come, you’re ready to act.

Live easy,

~Jeanette
