How Door Handles Extend Living At Home

“Currently I’m writing about senior evictions. Yes, our elders forced out of their homes!

Think about it. Who’s told you they can’t wait to move into assisted living? It’s not something I’ve ever heard. The fact is, too many seniors get ousted from their homes before they’re ready because of safety hazards most of us don’t recognize.

It’s a vital topic for me because of my grandmother. She was forced to leave her home unexpectedly. What broke her heart…and mine…was that she wasn’t ready for the change.

I don’t want this to happen to you or your loved ones. The good news is how often it’s preventable!

It’s why I provide so many tools to keep you…and them…in control. Here’s my third one…”

The Easiest Way To Operate Every Door.

“The surprising source of home evictions and “How to save $35,000 a year…”  discuss how to prevent getting trapped and avoid costly falls. But safety means living without obstacles of any kind – including doors…both interior and exterior.

Let’s start with leaving and entering your home. Difficulty with turning the door handle can trap you inside, or bar entry into your house. Both situations cause problems and the culprits are traditional round door handles or handles with a squeezing mechanism. Just as important are interior doors, especially to the bath and bedrooms.

Do you know anyone with arthritis, Parkinson’s, MS…or suffers from a stroke? How easy is it for them to use a knob-style door handle? Or one that has a latch that requires squeezing?

Now think about preparing food, washing with soap and water, or just applying hand lotion. If you need to open a door, you’re just as challenged as anyone with a mobility issue.

And it can be dangerous! What if you’re stuck outside in a storm? Or trapped inside and there’s a fire? Or just need to use the toilet and can’t open the bathroom door?

Change all doors to lever- handle hardware to ensure safe access throughout your house. These handles move easily and even when your hands are full, you can use a fist, arm, even an elbow to push the lever. This one simple change helps you navigate your home with greater ease…

And it can prevent evictions.

Maintain Control Even As You Age.

It bears repeating that over 300,000 Americans turn 65 every month. Many don’t want to move into assisted living and even those who do may wait for months to get in. What if an accident happens before the move happens?

Eviction means absence of choice. It’s why I recommend lever-handled doors to keep your options open. Now think about your freedom…

…how much are you willing to pay for it?

Not Sure Where To Begin?

The good news is that it starts with something as simple as a consultation or home assessment, both of which I do. Technically I have to call myself an interior designer. Personally, I see myself as a freedom fighter. Through my work, I help people maximize their choices to help them maintain their freedom.

All it takes is a phone call (480-695-1360), or an e-mail to [email protected] to get started. We can have a conversation, or sit down over a cup of coffee, to talk about you and your home.

Live easy (and freely),
