Save money (and your sanity!) with a consultation.
Ever hear of a remodel project that proceeded without a glitch? If you, or anyone you know, can say that – consider it a blessing…and a rarity.
The biggest advantage to a consultation is how it can iron out the inevitable wrinkle, problem, or unexpected snag that happens more often than not. Whether you rely on professionals, or do your project on your own, it’s almost impossible to get through a change without a surprise – usually one you’d rather avoid.
It’s why I offer consultations. For a small investment, I guide people in a number of ways that smooth out the wrinkles, finish in a timely manner, and produce the results they envision.
It’s one thing to move furniture around, or decorate a fireplace mantel. But when it comes to cabinets, appliances, plumbing… even color…things get more complicated.
Let’s look at some reasons why clients hire me…
One simple change ruins the entire room
One of my clients is ready to ‘age’ their master bathroom. With a 16 year age difference, this couple sees the hazards of their current bathroom configuration
Initially, they were going to remove the tub and make it a curbless shower. The problem is they’d have to give up most of the over-sized window to accommodate the over spray. Since this window floods the room with light, that change would dim the entire room.
Instead, we’re moving the toilet next to the window and expanding the shower to where the toilet’s currently located. They get to keep the window and save about $1,000 in building adjustment costs.
Color sets our mood more than we think
I’ve done a number of color consultations. One was for downtown Mesa and you can read more about that here.
Recently, I used a favorite set of sheets to help my client change the colors throughout her new home. With her husband moved to assisted living, she had to down-size her living quarters. The stress of separation from her spouse, plus the move, made choosing colors overwhelming.
I asked her to think about something she owned and really loved. She produced a set of sheets she’d kept for years. I did a palette based on those colors and now when she comes home from visiting with him, she feels like she gets a much needed “hug.”
Prevent accidents
The cost of falls, which mostly happen in the home, runs into billions every year. (1)
As we spend more time in our homes, it’s easy to accumulate things that retain fond memories. This is especially true for elder seniors still living at home. With a consultation, we can identify hidden hazards and keep them home longer. Nothing’s more joyful than to know people can stay where they love, and be safer.
Not ready for a consultation? You might want to try this
If you go to my website, www.DesignforaLifespan.com, you’ll see my offer of an hour of my time for a cup of coffee. I mean it! I studied Universal Design because I’ve personally experienced a loved one having to move before she was ready. In addition, our tepid progress in our economy may force people to live in their current homes longer than anticipated.
Whether you’re looking to re-model, or just need to refresh your current configuration, I’m in a position where I can really make a difference.
All you need to do is buy the coffee!!
Live easy,
~Jeanette
